RSCU mk3
The RSC U-mk3 series consist of two members in the following executions:
- RSCU-mk3 (144x144mm);
- RSCU-mk3.4 (160x160mm, motorized version).
They both share the classic recognisable bow-shaped rotatable top section.
The control units of the RSCU series (Rotation and Speed Control Unit) are console mounted lever units designed for controlling both speed (RPM or pitch) and heading (azimuth). All types can be equipped with potentiometers and/or micro switches for both speed as well as heading control. The motorized executions are all stepper motor driven and linked by means of CAN bus for automatic synchronization (Electric Shaft) with remote stations or an external master system.
Specs
The RSCU-mk3 comes with potentiometers and/or micro switches for the electrical interface with the propulsion- and steering control systems. It is available with a IP42 or IP56 rating, and with the possibility to limit the speed lever travel and/or steering angle according to your requirements. Palpable stops (detents) can be supplied in both sections.
The RSCU-mk3.4 is the stepper motorized equivalent of the mk3 model, with slightly larger dimensions of 160x160mm, and an increased built-in depth due to the presence of 2 stepper motors and their associated reference potentiometers. The default IP-rating is IP56. The stepper motors are driven by an external Control Unit to Bus Interface module (‘CUBI’). This module is the interface to the (redundant) CAN bus, which forms the basis for the fifth generation of Electric Shaft systems, ELAS-5. The CUBI also offers an amount of I/O’s for the human-machine interface i.e. signal lamps, pushbuttons and buzzers.

The RSCU-Mk3’s are type-approved by ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, LRS, NKK , RINA and RMRS.

ASA-series, 360°
Indicators of the ASA-series have been designed for 360° endless thruster azimuth angle indication. They are based on the servomotor principle and require only an external potentiometer as well as a 24VDC supply voltage to make them operational.
The essential difference when compared to standard indicators, is that the ASA’s pointer(s) can rotate endlessly without an end stop. To achieve this, a twin wiper potentiometer must be used as angle transmitter.

BUK-G mk2 (IP68)
The BUK-G mk2 is the IP68 level model of the BUK-G and has been especially designed for applications in yachting. It has a slightly different shape compared to the standard BUK-G, to be protected from immersion in water with a depth over 1 meter. The BUK-G mk2 is suitable for both propulsion and transverse thruster control. The basic signal transmitter is a 2KOhm potentiometer that returns 10-90% of its supply voltage over the full lever travel of 120°.

ISI-series, general purpose
The general purpose indicators of the ISI (Isolated Signal Indicators) series have been designed for various applications and offer the advantage of galvanic separation of the input signal and the supply voltage, thus preventing ground loop problems. The series is based on the DC servomotor principle and require an external 4-20mA signal source as well as a 24VDC supply voltage. The 24VDC LED dial illumination can be dimmed externally.

RSA-series, Rudder angle
Indicators of the RSA-series have been especially designed for rudder angle indication. Types RSA-3 thru RSA-7 are based on the same servomotor principle (RSM-4) and require only an external potentiometer as well as a 24VDC supply voltage to make them operational. The RSA-9 and RSA-10 are cost reduced versions of the RSA-7 and RSA-4 respectively.
Kwant Controls also supplies a matching signal transmitter mounted in a rugged housing, the RSG.-1 which can be linked to the rudder machine by means of a sprocket and chain connection. A combination of the RSG-1 and one (or more) of the RSA indicators together form a reliable rudder angle indication system that will last for many years without any maintenance. Diagrams have been added to show some of the possible system set-up’s. In case a panel indicator with a 4-20mA signal input is required, an indicator of the ISI family should be used. These indicators offer galvanic isolation of the input signal and power supply. Please refer to the ISI datasheet for further information.

The BUK-B is the largest console mounted propulsion control lever unit of the BUK-series, with a well-recognized, widely applied and much appreciated classic appearance. It is also the most versatile lever unit of the BUK family, offering a practically unlimited number of variations when it comes to user- and machinery interfaces. A maximum of 10 HMI pushbuttons/buzzers/signal lamps/dimmers can be incorporated, and a wide range of electrical machinery interfaces is available.

The BUK-H has been designed with a zero build-in depth, for the desktop mounted shape with potentiometers. It is also suitable for transverse thruster control due to its symmetrical and therefore applicable in various orientations. The basic signal transmitters are dual 5KOhm potentiometers that return 10-90% of the supply voltage over the full lever travel of 120°.
